Shaikh Khalid voices pride in people with disabilities

Manama, Sep. 8 (BNA): His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association, expressed his joy on meeting his brothers with disabilities in the closing ceremony of the fourth Khalid bin Hamad Youth Centers Futsal League and first People with Disabilities League under the slogan #meeting_of_generations.

His Highness said: "I was filled with joy with I met my friends and brothers with disabilities. The closing ceremony was a special opportunity for me and them, they deserve all the respect, appreciation, support and care for their big hearts and wonderful feelings. I am proud to be a brother and friend for them and I am proud with their large heartedness."

His Highness further added: "The People with Disabilities League was a success due to the outstanding participations by my brothers with disabilities in the first edition of the league. We achieved the goals set to taking their talents and giving them the opportunity to showcase them in this event. We also achieved the main goal of showcasing talents to the Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation and to be utilized in National Teams to bring more achievements for Bahrain in sports."

His Highness said that the league achieved the directives set by the wise leadership, which include giving support to people with disabilities, providing the right environment for them and launching their creativity in various fields, so that they are integrated within society and become part of the development process.

His Highness further added: "People with disabilities overcome obstacles with their strength and determination. There are many examples of that, most notably is Ruba Al Omri and Fatima Abdulrazaq who will participate in the Rio 2016 Special Olympics.

His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa offered his thanks to his brothers with disabilities for their participation and making the event into a success, wishing them luck and success in their social and sports life.


Champions honoured

Mr. Yousif Abdulwahab Al Hawaj was keen on attending the final match of the Khalid bin Hamad Youth Centers Futsal League and first People with Disabilities League.
Al Hawaj watched a part of People with Disabilities League final match which ended with the Deaf team defeating Harakia Society team.

In recognition of the role of people with Disabilities, Mr.Yousif Abdulwahab Al Hawaj honoured the Deaf team players with special gifts on the occasion of winning the title.

The step comes as support from Al Hawaj Group to players with disabilities that participated in the first disabilities league under the guidance of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association.

He stressed by saying that the support for this category is considered a national duty for everyone.


Outstanding media coverage

Bahrain Sports Channel was keen on keeping up with the fourth Khalid bin Hamad Youth Centers Futsal League and first People with Disabilities League matches, especially during the later stages.

The channel has dedicated three late night shows related to the league under the leadership of Fawaz Shamsan. The first show began before the semi-final matches with guests from the media and sports analysts, the second show was held before the final match with players from both leagues and the last show was held after the final match with Safra Youth Center team.

The channel used these particular late night show to clarify all matters relating to regulatory, technical aspects, and the opinion of Safra Youth Center team after they defeated Zallaq Youth Cetner team.

The channel played a substantial role throughout by covering the league, the channel covered the preliminaries round matches which were held at hall of the late Shaikh Faisal bin Hamad Al Kahlifa, in Riffa Club. The live coverage began in the Round of 16 till the final match with a special studio in the Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation Hall.
