The Solomon Islands national futsal team will take on the World’s number one futsal team, the Brazilian national futsal this morning for their friendly match before the 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup.

The match will take place at the Sao Paulo, Brazil.(Futsalplanet.com note: the game was actually held in Francisco Beltrao)

Kurukuru has been dreaming of this important leg of their preparation ahead of the 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup Tournament in Colombia.

This is Kurukuru’s toughest friendly match in their preparations for the FIFA Futsal World Cup.

Kurukuru coach Juliano Schmeling believes a match against Brazil is the perfect test for his team as they get down to the nitty-gritty of their world cup preparations.

“It will be a challenge playing against Brazil in their home, but we need to do all we can to benefit from this opportunity because we cannot compare the level at the moment.

“This will help us to be more aware of what’s going to happen in the World Cup.

“These will be the most important weeks for Kurukuru before the World Cup.

“Having the full squad together again with some friendly games can make us more prepared for tough games,” he said in a recent interview with OFC.

For most of the players this will be their second time to meet Brazil.

It has been eight years since Kurukuru first tasted the might of the Brazilian national futsal team whom currently is the number one team in the world in futsal.

Kurukuru captain, Elliot Ragomo remembered well that day when they were badly beaten by Brazil.

He also remembered the words of the world’s futsal legend, Brazilian player, Falcao after their match.

“Eight years ago we played the best team in the world and got beaten badly.

“This didn’t really affect how we felt playing against Brazil.

“We had fun and enjoyed the moment of experience of just being 16 yr old coming from a country with nothing about futsal.

“Still remembered what Falcao the best futsal player in the world told us after the game, he said "If you guys stick together you be a good team"

“Well its eight years later and here we are still together as we prepare to achieve our dream of playing against Brazil once again.

“That dream will become a reality when we meet Brazil today.

“We are back not as 16 years old but as men,” he said.
