The Borneo PostSMK Sacred Heart win Sibu futsal tourneySeptember 5, 2016, MondaySIBU: SMK Sacred Hear t trounced SMK Durin 2-0 to emerge champion in the Sibu district futsal tournament for the Education Minister 1Student 1Sport Challenge Cup here recently.
The champions remained undefeated throughout the tournament.
They beat SMK Kg Nangka 1-0, SMK Sg Merah 3-0, SMK Bukit Assek 2-1 (quarter-final) and SMK Ng Dap 1-0 (semi-final).
SMK Sacred Heart will now represent Sibu in the state-level competition to be held in Bintulu from Sept 28 till 29.
SMK Ulu Balingian and SMK Ng Dap finished third and fourth respectively.
Tournament top scorer was Eddy Ningkan from SMK Ulu Balingian with 15 goals while Lim Kim Hong from SMK Sacred Heart was named the best player.
A total of 25 secondary schools from Sibu district took part in the tournament which was held in Kolej Vokasional Sibu and SMK Kg Nangka.
Sibu Division’s Education Department assistant sports supervisor William Anut gave away the prizes.
Also present was SMK Kg Nangka senior assistant (co-curriculum) Ibrahim Busran.
