Ellen Dunger30 Aug 2016YOUNG, local futsal players Lachlan Harris, Lachlan Williamson, and Harry Rowbottom are in Brazil touring with the Australian under 15’s side.
The boys travelled with the team to Brazil on August 12 to spend a week acclimatising to the conditions, training and playing friendly matches before the official Belo Horizonte in the Copa Australian 2016 tournament which started on August 22.
Although they didn’t secure a win, Lachlan Harris’ mother Rachael said it was an exciting experience to be part of.
“The boys were not able to come away with a win however played well,” she said.
Aside from playing, the team enjoyed friendly futsal games, street soccer, outdoor soccer, and beach soccer on Copacabana Beach.
They also had the opportunity to watch professional league matches at Corinthians and the Womans Olympic soccer semi-final match between Germany and Canada at ‘Mineiraou’ the world cup venue in Belo Horizonte.
The boys have also been doing a lot of sightseeing whilst in Brazil including a visit to the famous Christ on the Hill in Rio de Janeiro, Sugarloaf mountain, and Maracana Stadium, the world cup and Olympic stadium).
The three young stars will return home on September 3.
