Dynamo keep the lead after convincing defeat of Progress The Moscow side threw down the gauntlet to Russian Championship title rivals Gazprom by staying at the top with a convincing 2-0 victory over Progress.
The beginning of March has seen the white-and-blue squad deprived of the Russian Cup finals for the first time in their history. Such a gargantuan disaster made the whole team collaps both morally and physically, so the fixture against Progress was seen as a crucial one ahead of the next round clash with Gazprom.
It took three goals from Anatoliy Badretdinov, Fernandão and Ari – the latter in the closing stages of the game – for Dynamo to earn a breather, safe in the knowledge their status as Russian Championship leaders cannot be touched by Gazprom at least before the next round.
