Futsalroos down Solomon Islands in friendly

The Futsalroos have warmed up for next month’s AFC Futsal Championship with a 3-0 win over Solomon Islands in Sydney on Sunday afternoon.

Goals to Daine Merrin, Wade Giovenali and Greg Giovenali helped Australia cruise to a comfortable win at the Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre.

The Futsalroos travel to Uzbekistan next month for the 2016 AFC Futsal Championship where they have been drawn alongside reigning Champions Japan, Malaysia and Qatar.

The tournament also acts as qualification for the 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup to be held in Colombia in September, with Australia needing to finish in the top five to secure their passage.

The Futsalroos qualified for the last FIFA Futsal World Cup in Thailand in 2012 where they finished third in their group behind Italy and Argentina.
