Antigua & Barbuda, Jamaica Unveil Preliminary Rosters For Caribbean Futsal Tournament

Antigua & Barbuda and Jamaica have unveiled their respective preliminary rosters this week in preparations for the CFU (Caribbean Football Union) Futsal Tournament at the Sala Polivalente Kid Chocolate in Havana, Cuba from 22-26 January.

Antigua & Barbuda, who will be making their futsal international debuts at the CFU Tournament, has six players from current outdoor Premier Division leader Hopper FC, while five selectees are coming from five-time league champion Parham FC.

Meanwhile, Jamaica is led by 1998 FIFA World Cup Veteran Theodore Whitmore as he is the player-coach for the Reggae Boyz who are also making its futsal inauguration at the CFU event.

The 2016 CFU Tournament is composed of two groups of four with Antigua & Barbuda, Guyana, Haiti and Trinidad & Tobago in Group 1, while Group 2 has Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, Sint Maarteen and host, Cuba.

The CFU Tournament will advance two teams to the 2016 CONCACAF Futsal Championship in May. The CONCACAF event will double as the region’s qualifier for the 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Colombia.
