Aussie ref controls AFC Futsal final

Australian Futsal Referee Scott Kidson has had the honour of being appointed as the Referee of the AFC Futsal Club Championship Final held in IR Iran in August 2015 between Al-Qadsia (Kuwait) and Tasisat Daryaei (IR Iran).

For 42 year old Kidson, who has been a FIFA Referee since 2007, this marks his second appointment to the Club Competition Final having also been appointed to the 2012 edition in Kuwait as the Second Referee.

Kidson said preparation was an integral part of performing well during the tournament.

“AFC have invested in resources to ensure we are well prepared for the tournament – both educationally and physically. I also research previous matches involving the teams to understand playing styles and patterns which help prepare me for specific tactics we may encounter during a match.”

“The Iranians are passionate about Futsal and there was a fantastic atmosphere for the Final. There is always nervous energy before a big game but having previous experience is very helpful in keeping me calm. Once you blow that first whistle that’s all behind you and you hope to see well and make solid calls.”
