bcctFutsal Squad Starts to Take ShapeHaving put all the trialists through their paces on Tuesday evening, manager Matt Croft has come to a decision and selected the players he would like to see play again.
Bristol City Futsal Club held trials at Merchants Academy earlier on in the week, with the aim of adding new talent to the already competitive squad ahead of the 2015/16 season.
Every player who attended the trial was enthusiastic and dedicated, and their eagerness to succeed was evident from the first minute of play. With everyone aware of the reward at hand for performing to a high standard (representing Bristol City next season) the pressure was immense throughout the two-hour trial.
Manager Matt Croft was impressed with the talent on show and was delighted to contact nine of the trialists on Wednesday morning informing them that they have been invited to attend another training session so he can assess their ability at greater depth.
Matt Croft was also delighted to offer a few of the players who represented the club last season a new one-year-deal on Tuesday evening. Two of the players to be offered a new contract were Zak Dowdeswell and Gary Bell.
Zak and Gary have a lot of history with Bristol City Community Trust, and Matt Croft is delighted they have signed a new deal keeping them at the club until the summer of 2016:
“Both Zak and Gary are great players; they performed to a great ability last season and they will be a real asset this season I’m sure” he said.
In addition to playing for Bristol City Futsal Club last season, Zak and Gary have both previously completed the Community Trust’s BTEC programme. Having excelled themselves and made a positive impression within their studies and general attitude, their efforts were rewarded. Both players were recently offered a full-time job with the Trust and they are both shining in their respective roles.
Speaking about extending his contract with the club, Zak said: “I am really looking forward to the season; I just can’t wait to start.”
Gary also expressed similar delighted with his new deal, saying: “I am very delighted to be signing again.
“It just means a lot to be playing Futsal. It is a growing sport in England, getting bigger and bigger so I am delighted to play and sign on again.”
