PFL Announces Referee ID & Education Course this August in OrlandoThe futsal court will be the classroom for a new wave of referees looking to gain futsal education.
The Professional Futsal League announced today two rounds of training as part of the PFL Referee ID & Education Course scheduled for Aug. 3-7 and Aug 7-11 in Orlando, Fla.
The referee education classes coincide with both the World Futsal Championships (one of the largest youth futsal tournaments in the world) and the PFL SuperCopa 2015 at the ESPN Disney Wide World of Sports Complex.
Each course costs $395 (with lodging) or $250 for commuters and includes a USA Futsal/PFL referee uniform. Referees (age 16 and older) can register online at www.professionalfutsal.com.
“Even though the start of our first PFL season is 17 months away we are aggressively being proactive in identifying and educating referees in order to have the highest level professional futsal referees working PFL matches,” PFL Commissioner Keith Tozer said. “Under the guidance of FIFA Referee Instructor Ed Marco, FIFA Referee Shane Butler and FIFA Spanish Referee Roberto Gracia, this ID camp and course is another great step in that direction.”
The referee committee will be made up of an international array of officials from the United States, Brazil, Spain and Australia.
Butler and Marco will guide the classes, which will include officiating matches during the World Futsal Championships.
“This is an exciting time for Futsal and the USA” Marco said. “The PFL SuperCopa in Orlando and World Futsal Championships for boys and for girls will provide excellent training ground for any futsal referee at any level. Our staff will be providing instruction found nowhere else but at this event with the goal of producing the best in the world.”
