Boro secure 3rd with win over GenesisMiddlesbrough Futsal Club clinched a 3rd place finish in Super League Group B with a 5-2 win over Genesis on Sunday at Middlesbrough Sports Village.
Braces from captain Robbie Bettson and Val Evans came either side of a Josh Clark tap in but Genesis dominated the first half and led at the break after a penalty for Boro's 6th foul. The young Teessiders came out strong in the second half and played some of their best stuff this season.
The win has placed Boro amongst the top six teams in the country and while Hodgson's boys missed out on a place in the Grand Finals he is happy with the achievement.
"If you were to ask me at the start of the Super League with some of the best teams in the country would I take 3rd place, I'd say yes. Baku and Birmingham are probably going to play each other for the title and are a level above the rest, so to finish behind them is nothing to be ashamed of" said the Boro boss.
"All the players have set themselves a benchmark for next season and my aim now is to get the club into the top 4. Next weekend we play Baku and then fly to Morocco for a tournament and we're going to enjoy both experiences and come back stronger next season."
Middlesbrough are holding trials on Wednesday 27th May for the full-time under-19s scholarship - a direct route into the first team. Visit
