belta.byColombia retain AMF Futsal World Cup titleMINSK, 27 April (BelTA) – Colombia claimed the champion title in the AMF Futsal Men's World Cup for the third time, BelTA has learned.
In the final of the 11th AMF World Championship at Belarus' Minsk Arena on 25 April Colombia defeated its perpetual rival from Paraguay 4-0 (3-0). Camilo Gomez, Jorge Cuervo, Diego Abril and Dimas Alejandro scored for Colombia.
In previous world's sport forum in 2011 Colombia beat Paraguay 8-2 to collect the trophy. Colombia caught up with Paraguay in the number of champion titles. They won the championship in 2000 and 2011. Colombia claimed silver in 1994 and 2003 and won bronze in 2007. Paraguay celebrated the victory in 1988, 2003 and 2007, won silver in 1982, 1991, 2011, 2015 and bronze in 1985.
In the bronze medal game of the 2015 AMF Futsal World Cup Argentina beat Belgium 7-1 (4-0). Argentina won the AMF World Championship in 1994. They claimed silver in 2007 and bronze medals in 2000 and 2011. Belgium made it to the top four teams at the AMF World Championship for the first time.
Dario Herrera of Paraguay and Marcio Sebastian of Uruguay were named the 2015 AMF Futsal Men's World Cup best strikers, each scoring 10 goals.
