Italian Pivot Clayton Baptistella Sings For Nacional in CroatiaNacional add to stellar squadFormer Italian international Clayton Baptistella has signed for Croatian side Nacional. His previous clubs include leading Italian sides Luparense, Montesilvano and Marca. The 31 year old’s last club was Araz in Azerbaijan and, after lengthy negotiations, he has chosen Zagreb as his next destination.
Nacional coach and former Croatian international Robert Grdović was delighted about the news and commented “Baptistella is a well known futsal player and it is a great reinforcement. We have the decisive and crucial part of the season ahead and we expect a lot from him in this fight for the title. We have the necessary depth and enter the playoffs as favourites. We won the cup and this great team go after their fifth national championship.”
Baptistella, born in Brazil, spoke about his transfer saying “I was very happy with Nacional’s interest and the ambitions they have for me and my teammates. I am a little regretful that my arrival was delayed by administrative problems with my registration and I have not taken part in the cup victory. However, I congratulate my teammates on this first title of the season. I am here to help you get the ultimate trophy and that is the Croatian Championship.”
Nacional will be the team to beat in the league playoffs as they fight to claim the title off last year’s winners Alumnus. Their squad is one of the strongest ever seen in Croatia with important Croatian internationals Tihomir Novar and Kristijan Grbeša playing alongside Serbian star Mladen Kocic. Their recent cup victory demonstrated their strength and the addition of Baptistella will only increase their chances of becoming the champions of Croatia.
