12 AGLA-BOYS Called Up By The Azzurri

There are 12 AGLA ENDORSEES in the squad of 21 selected by Roberto Menichelli for the get together in preparation for the Main Round Qualifiers for the UEFA Futsal EURO 2016. The qualifiers will take place in Krosno (Poland) between 18-21 March and will see the Blues face the home team, Belorussia and Finland.

Included are goalkeepers STEFANO MAMMARELLA (Acqua&Sapone Emmegross), FRANCESCO MOLITIERNO (Lazio) and DAVIDE PUTANO (Asti). The outfield players are MASSIMO DE LUCA (Asti), MARCO ERCOLESSI (Pescara), JULIAO MURILO FERREIRA (Acqua&Sapone Emmegross), LUIZ FELIPE FOLLADOR (Asti), RODOLFO FORTINO (Asti), HUMBERTO HONORIO (Luparense), ALEX MERLIM (Luparense), ANGELO SCHININÀ (Lazio) and FABRICIO URIO (Fabrizio Corigliano).

At the end of the week once the training in Genzano is finished, the squad will be decided for the final list of 14 in the technical meeting the day before the 1st game against Finland on 17th March. The players are already training at PalaCesaroni Genzano in Rome. The departure for Krosno is scheduled for the morning of the 15th March.

The starf for Italy, European Champions, in the Main Round is set for Wednesday 18th March at 16.30CET against Finland, coached by Mico Martic, ex Croatian Champion and “old friend” of Italian Futsal having passed through Verona, Milan, Brescia, Bergamo and Cornaredo. The day after, Thursday 19th March again at 16.30, Menichelli’s side will face Belorussia. On Saturday 21st March at 18.30 after having a day’s rest they will confront hosts Poland, headed by an Italian coach, the Venetian Andrea Bucciol.

The 2016 edition of the European Championship will be organised by Serbia and will be played in Belgrade between 2nd and 3rd February. At the final stage, in addition to the host nation, the winners of the 7 Main Round groups plus the winner of the playoffs between the 7 runners up and 1 best 3rd place will be present. The playoffs are scheduled for 15 and 22 September (Draw will be on 10th June) and will be played over 2 legs. This will complete the 12 team line up for Serbia 2016.
