A Historical Triplet for Bank of Beirut Sporting Club

Bank of Beirut Sporting club totally dominated Lebanese futsal in 2014-2015 Season after winning the Super cup, The Lebanese Championship and Yesterday the Lebanese Futsal Cup to complete the Triplet and to become the Undisputed Champions of Lebanon.
With the team starting to train back in May 2014, the task was never easy to retain the Lebanese Championship earned last season. However the target was higher for the reigning champions: Win every Lebanese Title.

It all started when Bank of Beirut Sporting club won the Lebanese Super cup title early this season by defeating The Lebanese Army team 4-3 in a thrilling match, which granted the white and blue team their 1st Title this season.
And then, the team began their Championship title defense, taking on each team precisely and managed to end the regular season in the 1st Position with 19 wins 1 tie and no losses, including defeating the rivals the Army team twice 5-1 and 6-1 and the other rivals Al Mayadine 6-3 while the other game witnessed a tie with Al Mayadine 1-1. With 125 goals scored during the season, the club ranked 1st in offense and excelled in the collective display well trained by the Serbian coach Dejan Djedovic and proved that Futsal is a team work attack combined with a balanced defense which also Bank of Beirut was ranked 1st in the regular season with only 35 Goals allowed.
In the quarterfinals, the team faced Al Qalamoun Club (ranked 8th in the regular season), and easily swept the series 2-0 (10-0 & 7-1) and qualified to the Semi-Final to face the strong team from the North: Tripoly.
The Semifinals game 1 witnessed a strong competition from the guests, taking the lead early in the game. However the champs came back quickly and took the game to their part scoring 4 goals and ending the game in their favor 4-1 to take the lead 1-0.
The Semifinals game 2, Bank Of Beirut Sporting club players collectively and successfully dominated their hosts 14-3 to reach the final without any defeat conceded in the League. The goals were scored by Mohammad Iskandarani (2 goals), Alee Sisi, Vladan Vesic (5 goals), Moustafa Serhan (3 goals), Yasser Salman (2 goals) and Hassan Hammoud, leading the team to their second Finals in years & facing Al Mayadine Club in what was expected to be an exciting Final.
Game 1 of the Finals saw Bank of Beirut leading the series after defeating Al Mayadeen 4-1. Moustafa Serhan scored the opening goal, Alee Sisi was there to score the 2nd and Vesic scored the last 2 goals of the game.
The Final Series wasn’t that easy for the champs marking the 1st defeat in the season after the 2nd Game 7-4 prior to Extra time, and the 2nd defeat through penalty shots 5-4, putting the club in a late position 1-2 in favor of Al Mayadine, who needed 1 more game to clinch the title.
But with the coach Dejan Djedovic coming back on the bench after the suspension period was over, everything turned around in favor of the champs, winning the 4th game at Al Mayadine ground 4-2 and tying the series 2-2 to implement a fifth and Final game in Emile Lahoud Stadium for the title.
In game 5, and in front of a sold out stadium, and in one of the greatest futsal finals ever in Lebanon, Bank of Beirut sporting club were able to defend their crown and remain Lebanese futsal champions, after defeating Al Mayadine 3-2 in the final series by ending the game 5-3 in their favor & were able to take advantage of Mayadeen’s defensive liabilities to kill the game. The first half of the game ended 3-1; but in the 2nd half Al Mayadeen, led by their Colombian star Angellot was able to get back to the game, but conceded a goal in the final second while trying to get the equalizer with a power player.
The team never stopped to train hard, and now it was the time to fight for The Lebanese Futsal Cup Title. The draw put the team in Round 16 V/S 2nd division team Al Ahli Saida, who weren’t difficult to defeat with a score of 10-0.
However the Quarterfinals saw a rematch between Bank of Beirut and Al Mayadine in a tense game, which also went into overtime & ended in the Favor of the reigning Lebanese Champions 4-3. With the team easily winning the Semi Final game V/S the 2nd division champions AUCE 8-4, they qualified for the Final Match against their Super cup runner-up The Lebanese Army team.
The build up for the Final was magnificent with both teams eager to win the title. Bank of Beirut to complete the Triplet and the Army team to win their 1st major title since 2013. Ali Tneich opened the score to give Bank of Beirut the early lead in the 2nd minute, and Serbian National team player Vladan Vesic doubled the score before heading to halftime. In the 2nd half, the Army tried unsuccessfully to break Bank of Beirut’s defense and received another 3rd goal from Yasser Salman before scoring their only goal in the game through Mohamad Abou Zeid. However, after this moment the Champs regained control over the game and managed to score 2 more goals through Vesic and Salman, to win the game 5-1 and to claim their 3rd Title this Season.
So Bank of Beirut is currently dominating the Lebanese Futsal by completing a historical Triplet for the 1st time in Lebanon, and achieved all the possible Titles mentioned in their early season target.
