PFL Team USA announces coaching staff for PFL International Challenge powered by USA FutsalFRISCO, TX _ If knowledge is power, then the PFL Team USA will indeed be a powerful force based on the coaching staff announced today.
The five man staff will guide the stars and stripes during the PFL International Challenge powered by USA Futsal against FC Barcelona and PFL Team Mexico.
PFL Commissioner Keith Tozer will guide the staff during the player and referee combines but will serve in his executive role during the actual matches.
Therefore, Vilmar “Vava” Marques will serve as PFL Team USA head coach during the games. Daniel Berdejo-del-Fresno, Constantine Konstin, Mark Litton and Otto Orf will round out the staff.
“I’m extremely proud of the coaching staff that we have put together for the players combine as well as for the PFL Team USA matches,” Tozer said. “These men represent the top level of futsal coaches here in North America. They are all extremely committed, talented, passionate and very hard working coaches. We look for these men to play an important role for the PFL now and in the future.”
Vava Marques, USA _ Marques has been the assistant coach of the U.S. Futsal Men's National Team for the past 15 years. The futsal veteran has been in four CONCACAF Championships winning a gold medal, two World Cup appearances, and one appearance at the Pan America games. Vava easily slides into the head coaching role.
Daniel Berdejo-del-Fresno, Spain _ With a PhD in Sport Performance, Berdejo-del-Fresno makes for a perfect fitness coach. He presently works for the England Futsal Men's National Team.
Constantine Konstin, USA _ Konstin is one of only two certified FIFA Futsal Instructors in the U.S. and has extensive international futsal experience both as a coach and player. Cony has been to every corner of the world coaching and instructing futsal.
Mark Litton, USA _ U.S. Futsal Men's National team goalkeeper coach for the past 10 years as well as the Technical Director of U.S. Youth Futsal, Litton will manage the PFL Team USA goalkeepers.
Otto Orf, USA _ Orf was honored as the MVP among goalkeepers during 1996 CONCACAF Futsal Championships in Guatemala and lead the U.S. to their first futsal gold medal. Orf also serves on the U.S. Youth Futsal Regional and National Futsal Coaching staff.
Keith Tozer, USA _ U.S. futsal national team coach Keith Tozer brings his wealth of knowledge to his role as PFL commissioner. Tozer’s 17-year tenure includes winning two CONCACAF gold medals, five CONCACAF championship appearances, two futsal World Cup appearances and a spot in the 1997 Pan American games. His futsal career began nearly 30 years ago as the captain of the U.S. squad in 1986.
