Serbian Revenge, Italian K.O. 5-2 with goals from MERLIM & FORTINO

Roberto Menichelli’s Italy did not repeat the success of Tuesday and leaves with a 5-2 defeat at the hands of Serbia. There were goals from AGLA REPRESENTATIVES RODOLFO FORTINO and ALEX MERLIM. The starting lineup deployed by the National Team Head Coach included FORTINO. In the course of the the other AGLA-BOYS participated including MARCO ERCOLESSI, HUMBERTO HONORIO, MASSIMO DE LUCA, FABRICIO URIO and ANGELO SCHININA. The only one not to feature was goalkeeper STEFANO MAMMARELLA.

The first half was the Azzurri’s. Menichelli players wasted several scoring opportunities and an unfortunate own goal by Roman gave the home team a first half 1-0 lead. The second half was more eventful. An equaliser by FORTINO was followed with a goal by Milosavac to give Serbia the lead. MERLIM then drew the scores the level at 2-2. The scores were equal for just 13 seconds when Koci¿ gave his side the advantage. In the end goals from Simi¿ and Koci¿ made the final score 5-2.

The thoughts of coach Menichelli before the team head to the European Championship qualifying tournament for Serbia 2016 which will be held next month in Krosno (Poland).

ROBERTO MENICHELLI’s statements to the site www.divisionecalcioa5.it

His view of the 2nd friendly. "It was an especially strange game. The first half we played well, almost to the level of Tuesday’s match, but we went a goal down. In the first 20 minutes Serbia, apart from the advantage provided by our unfortunate own goal, made three shots on goal which were all easily dealt with by Miarelli. In contrast we have had several good scoring opportunities.”

“The difficulty of the game is, as always, the starting well, something that has not happened because of our imprecision in the final third. In the second half, after the equaliser, we again went behind but with a play that had an obvious foul not blown, as admitted even by opponents. In the third goal there was a slip by one of our players who has allowed a shot in the central area, while the last two goals have come with the fly goalkeeper out and we know that the risks with this are high.”

“They are not justification for the defeat, even if they are facts. Again, after a good first half, the comeback has been conditioned by these strange goals. We still have to improve in relation to open matches and have the lead at the final whistle. In these friendlies in general we often weren’t successful, or even lucky. It happened with the Netherlands, with the Czech Republic in Corigliano and today. It is an aspect to improve. "

The overall evaluation of the trip to Serbia. "They were two useful tests. We will carry on evaluating the balance of the team, the players. Now we will try to make a summary of these periods and perform well in the qualifying round of Euro 2016, which will not be easy."
