www.shoot.co.ukEscolla Futsal are heading to Blanes, Spain this December to compete in a tournament against the rest of the world. The prestigious tournament, which runs from December 27th – December 30th, will take place in front of coaches & players from the world of Futsal, as teams from four continents go head to head in the quest to become champions.
Following the first FA National Futsal Conference at St George’s Park, where over 200 coaches gathered to learn more about the game that is being embraced within the England DNA, Escolla Futsal – who currently work with over 250 players within their Futsal Academies – have a DNA of their own, and are hopeful that Futsal will finally become an integral part of youth development in this country.
Escolla, whose players are already part of the FA’s Futsal Centre of Excellences for 16-19 year olds, will be competing against FC Barcelona Futsal teams across the age groups in England’s first representation at the tournament. Perhaps more poignantly for the development of our future Game – 90% of the players that will be travelling to Barcelona are English. A slight improvement on the same stat relating to the Premier League.
The Escolla journey began on the back of the 2012 Futsal World Cup in Thailand, Brazil the eventual winners. Brazil, Spain and Italy occupy the top three in the FIFA Futsal World rankings – Argentina are 5th with Portugal 6th. Germany are currently developing Regional Futsal Centres of Excellence across their world class facilities. After this year’s World Cup in Brazil where the sport of Futsal began to gather deserved attention from the English media, Escolla Futsal players will be having a World Cup of their own come December. At the start of their journey, their future may promise a whole lot more.
