Player identification program increases from five to eight regions

OVERLAND PARK, KAN. (Oct. 23, 2014) - U.S. Youth Futsal has announced the dates and locations for the 2014-15 Regional and National Futsal I.D. Camps. The Futsal I.D. program is designed to identify and develop elite players in the most challenging and competitive environment possible, under the guidance of U.S. Youth Futsal Technical Director -- and U.S. Men's National Futsal Team Head Coach -- Keith Tozer.

After a successful first cycle during 2013-14 which saw more than 400 players attend camps in five regions, the program has expanded to eight regions. Those camps will identify players who will be invited to participate in the National I.D. Camp.

"The top players at each Regional I.D. Camp are selected for the regional teams," said Director of Futsal I.D. Soorena Farboodmanesh. "The regional teams will attend the National I.D. Camp, at which youth national teams are named."

This year's U14 and U16 national teams are headed to an international event in Toronto in December. Next year's national teams are expected to travel to Costa Rica.

To enter the Futsal I.D. program, a player must be recommended by a coach. Selected players then receive formal invitations from U.S. Youth Futsal, requesting that they attend the camp in their region.

This year's Regional I.D. Camps are:
• South, New Carollton, Texas. Date TBD
• Mountain, Denver, Colo. Jan. 30-Feb.1, 2015
• Southeast, Concord, N.C. Feb. 20-22, 2015
• Southwest, San Diego, Calif. Apr. 10-12, 2015

The National I.D. Camp will take place in Gardner, Kan. from July 8-12, 2015.
