FIFA Street Star signs for BoroMiddlesbrough Futsal Club have confirmed the signing of FIFA Street star Daniel “D10” Cappellaro from Spanish club Palleja FS on a two year deal that will see him become the club's first professional player.
Cappellaro, from Australia, will join the club in August for preseason after spending the last three months of the current season playing in the Spanish second division under former Barcelona coach Carlos Leandro at Palleja FS.
Cappellaro is one of the unlockable characters for “Street Ballers”, in the popular video game, EA Sports FIFA Street and is moving to England after stints playing in Argentina, Holland and Spain. Cappellaro will also take on some of the coaching in the club's growing academy bringing his coaching experience from Perth Glory.
“I can’t wait for the new season. I hope to add to the already strong squad that currently exists at Boro. I really want to thank Damon for making this opportunity possible, I’ve always wanted to play in England and when the chance came to sign for Middlesbrough, a name I have been familiar with since I was a young player watching Juninho do keepy-uppy’s on my TV, I couldn’t say no”.
Boro first team manager, Chris Hodgson, with the FA Futsal Cup still to play for after reaching the Super League, already has one eye on next season's title assault and had a look at Cappellaro during a session in April.
“Daniel [Cappellaro] is a massive signing for us! He is one of the best individual players in the game and will bring a whole new dimension to our team. One against one he's untouchable and he's been playing in Spain so his overall game has been improving a lot as well.”
“He will help to raise the bar in the team and attain the standards I believe are needed for Middlesbrough to continue being a force in English Futsal and the fans and kids will be excited to see him in action.”
