Baku United PressLast weekend Baku United FC faced Norwegian Champions Vegakameratene in two friendlies, as they prepare for the start of the Super League this week. The English Champions came out victorious in both games, winning the first 5-1 and second 2-0.
Vegakameratene recently clinched the Norwegian title, having been unbeaten the whole season and it was their fourth consecutive title. Their success at domestic level has seen them represent Norway in the UEFA Futsal Cup and this year they made it to the Main Round before being knocked out in a tough group alongside the champions of Serbia, Croatia and Netherlands. There squad features several Norwegian internationals, though they were not at full strength for the friendlies.
In the first game Baku went into half-time 2-0 up and made it 4-0 before employing the fly goalkeeper. The second game Baku dominated more but was unable to break the deadlock before half-time. Shortly after the break Baku managed to open the scoring and a second followed shortly after. Both games were competitive affairs even if it was Baku who controlled the possession and looked by far the more dangerous.
It was excellent preparation for Baku’s upcoming game this Sunday against Sheffield FC in the Super League at the SportHouse in Barking. The game kicks off at 2pm and entry is free for spectators. Baku will be aiming to get off to a good start before they play University of Bath away the following week.
