The month of March is going to prove to be the start of a busy and eventful period of Futsal, right through to the summer’s climax of national finals.

It all begins in March with a number of qualifying heats taking place for both The FA National U19 Futsal Championships and The FA Futsal Cup.

The first of these will see the U19s take centre stage with four regional college finals taking place on Wednesday 5 March, followed by two clubs on 16 March.

The competition this year has benefited from the merger of the English Colleges Association and The FA’s respective competitions with in excess of 90 teams taking part.

The competition will continue throughout the spring, with Semi-Finals and then the Finals in Birmingham in June when the champions will be crowned for both the men’s and women’s competitions.

The FA Futsal cup which made a welcome return to the calendar this year will also begin its journey in March, with a series of eight regional qualifying heats taking place on the 9 and 15 of the month.

Prior to this stage we have seen in excess of 500 teams to try and win the opportunity to qualify for a place in the regional finals alongside their national Futsal league counterparts.

The competition will progress onto Mini League and Semi-Final stages, where the women’s teams will join and then onto the national finals at the Copperbox in June.

Stephen Brown, Small Sided Football Consultant, said: "From March onwards we enter a hectic but exciting period of Futsal competitions for both youth and adults with qualifiers taking place until the national finals stages of each respective competitions.

"Cleary we are entering a crucial part of the season for all participating teams and you can begin to feel the growing excitement generated at this time. Hopefully this will continue throughout the competition and that this type of exposure will encourage others to follow."
