Spanish coach wants to take Vietnam futsal to top four Asia

On the evening of February 10, the new coach of the national futsal team of Vietnam – Bruno Garcia Formoso – arrived in Ho Chi Minh City to replace Italian coach Sergio Gargelli.

Bruno Garcia Formoso is one of the best futsal coaches in Spain. The 40-year-old coach won the Ramon Cobo Award – the award for the best futsal coach of the Spanish Football Federation.

He is the instructor of many players of the Spanish national team. He used to coach the futsal national teams of Peru and the Hangzhou Dragons FC, which ranked second at the Futsal China Championships.
The contract between Bruno Formoso and the Vietnam futsal team will last for three years.

The Spanish coach will start working with his team on March 15. Then the team will have a training course in Spain from April 9. The team will played 10 friendly matches in Spain before returning home to attend the Asian Futsal Finals in HCM City from 30/4 through 11/5.
Bruno Formoso said his goal in the next 3 years is to help Vietnam fusal to narrow the gap with the top teams in Asia.

"My first goal for the team is to narrow the gap between Vietnam and Asian teams like Thailand, Japan and Iran. The next target is Asia's top 8 and the higher will be the top 4 in Asia."
