Reporting by Doug Reed @DougReedFutsalLegendary Argentinian national team player, Diego Giustozzi, has been announced as the new head coach of the national team. Giustozzi had played in Spain and Italy for the last thirteen years until recently returning to his home nation to play for River Plate. As a player he represented the Argentinian national team for 10 years which included 3 World Cups and a silver medal at the Panamerican Games in 2007.
Speaking about the appointment he said “I am surprised to be the national team coach, I knew that I could become a coach any time but I saw myself working in Europe more than Argentina.” Describing the feeling it has given him he said “It is a mix of satisfaction, a lot of responsibility and sadness that I finish a playing career that has allowed me to live unforgettable experiences. I am still a bit in the clouds but when I start the job I will forget everything, giving my all and my passion.”
His first test will be the ODESUR South American Games which are to be held in Chile in March 2014. The 35 year old aims to put his mark on the side and implement his favoured style of play; “The first characteristic is that I don’t want to lose and what has always characterised Argentina, above everything, is the capacity to know how to suffer. It is key to be a winning team. After that I will look for an intense, aggressive game that aims to recuperate the ball quickly and knows what to do with it when it has it. In all game situations we must think with the same ideas, the mental aspect of my way of playing is key.”
