Middlesbrough Futsal Club came away from Derby with a record breaking 20-2 win over the East Midlands side on Sunday and extended their perfect start to the season under new boss Chris Hodgson.
The result was the first time Boro had scored 20 goals and Ben Everson bagged 8 - breaking Mikey Roberts' record of 6. Leading 8-1 at half time, they didn't take their foot off the pedal and went on to record a superb scoreline, which led to the resignation of Derby boss Matt Hardy on Monday morning.
Middlesbrough have taken 9 points from three matches, scoring 37 goals in the process and Hodgson is still not content and is promising more from Boro.
"The boys were relentless yesterday, that's the hardest I've seen them work. I challenged them to score 18, they gave me 20. We never stopped, they never let Derby breathe for a minute. I'm not satisfied, I always want more. I'm after Manchester, Sheffield and the teams in the south and I will get them!" exclaimed ambitious boss Chris Hodgson.
Everson was in blistering form with some sublime goals, but continues to be overlooked by England boss Pete Sturgess and Mikey Roberts chipped in with 4.
The season continues this weekend (Sunday 15th December) as Boro host the return fixture against Derby Willows and Boro can move up to second place with a game in hand with all three points. It doesn't give Derby much time to regroup and Boro will be hoping for more of the same.
You can watch the boys in action at Thornaby Pavilion. Tickets are priced £4 adults and £2 under 18s. Kick off is 2pm on Sunday, doors open at 1:30pm. The club are also offering free entry to anybody who buys a stocking filler from the club shop! From bears to shirts you can find loads of cool items for Christmas!
