By Doug Reed @DougReedFutsalAccording to reports in Spain, the Women's World Cup will be held in Madrid between 12 and 21 December 2013. Spain would replace Venezuela who were due to host the competition but asked FIFA if it could be suspended until March 2014.
Spain hosted the first Women's World Cup in 2010 before it was staged in Brazil in 2011 and Portugal in 2012. The teams invited to compete in what would be the fourth edition were Brazil, Costa Rica, Spain, Portugal, Russia, Ukraine, Japan, Malaysia, Iran, Angola, Tahití y Venezuela.
The reason Venezuela asked for a suspension was that teams had difficulty in arranging flights to the hosting cities. Spain would, in principal, host the competition at Las Rozas, the national training centre of the Spanish Football Federation. Without an official announcement it is still uncertain where the tournament will take place.
