Middlesbrough Futsal Club can reveal the new manager of the team for the 2013-14 season will be 38-year-old Chris Hodgson from South Shields.
-Chris will take charge of the first team after Sunday's friendly against Birmingham.
-He will be revealed to the fans and players on SundayChris, inventor of revolutionary player analysis system S20APP, impressed departing manager Damon Shaw when they met earlier this week. Captain Robbie Bettson will move into a player/coach role to assist Hodgson. Shaw will stay on as a director of the club and will continue to be involved in the development of the club.
"When I first thought of Chris for the role, it became obvious and I was very impressed with him when we met to talk about the plans for the club. His ambition and vision are in line with mine and I am sure he will improve on the good work that has been done up to now. I've known Chris for a while and his son plays for our under-16s. Blaine is a testament to Chris' philosophy of creative, attacking and unorthodox play and if Chris' ideas can create some players in the long term then we're going to be in great hands."
"He has limited futsal experience at the top, but with Robbie Bettson moving into a coaching role, Chris can learn on the job and I am sure he will develop into a top futsal coach."
Chris is delighted to be taking over the reigns of one of England's leading clubs.
"I took this role as I see exciting times for Futsal in this country and I believe Middlesbrough will be a front runner in the near future with the structure already in place."
"Everybody has a part to play in this new adventure for me, the players and of course the fans who I have seen on videos and I think their enthusiasm and support towards the team is brilliant."
"Obviously the structure that’s already in place has created a successful team and I'm sure that my experience can bring even more success in the coming seasons."
"We must build for the future and help create players via the academy I will be putting in place a philosophy and structure while working with the current coaches to make sure the younger players within the club are taught the correct way, so we produce creative, unorthodox, attacking futsal players that will go on to represent the first team for many years to come and achieve our goal that is Europe success."
"Damon has been offered a fantastic opportunity to coach in Spain, which will benefit Middlesbrough and England in the long run and I would like to thank him for giving me the honour of becoming the manager of this fantastic futsal Club."
Chris will be introduced to the fans and players on Sunday at the team's first friendly of the season at home to Birmingham. Entry is £2 and it will be held at Queen's Campus (TS17 6BH), kick off at 4pm.
