The-AFC.comAl Sadaka ended their AFC Club Futsal Championship 2013 campaign on a high note by defeating Thai Son Nam 6-1, with Thursday's result also eliminating the Vietnamese side from the competition.
Having lost both their previous Group A matches Al Sadka had only pride to play for, while Thai Son Nam’s still had a mathematical chance of making into the semi-finals following their 2-2 draw with Shenzhen Nanling Tielang in their tournament opener.
However the thumping 6-1 defeat - compounded by four unanswered second-half goals - confirmed Thai Son Nam's exit from the competition along with the Lebanese side.
Karim Zeid opened the scoring in the 4th minute before Ali El Homsi doubled Al Sadaka's lead five minutes later.
Thai Son Nam’s Japanese import Bruno Takashi reduced the deficit in the 14th minute but goals from Boris Cizmar (22nd), Zeid (32nd), Marwan Gorges (36th) and Sleimen Akil (39th) completed the rout.
“Obviously I am very happy with the result as we were playing for the pride of Lebanon futsal,” Al Sadaka coach Hassan Deeb said.
“There was no pressure on us whatsoever so we managed to score lots of goals.
“The 5-4 loss against Shenzhen Nanling is something we regret as had we taken a point from that match would have been through to the semis.
"It’s too late now but I cannot control myself hating that last two minutes of the match against Shenzhen,” he rued.
Meanwhile, Thai Son Nam coach Sergio Gargelli lamented the fact that his team lacked cohesion and unity.
“It was a bad match as we were never organized,” conceded the Italian.
“We did not play futsal today as players were looking for their personal glory instead. Maybe they were under tremendous pressure which they failed to cope with."
