Local star Morioka Kaoru notched four goals as Nagoya Oceans entered into semi-finals with a match to spare after defeating Vietnam’s Thai Son Nam 7-2 in a Group A match of the AFC Futsal Club Championship 2013 played at the Ocean Arena on Wednesday.

With two wins from as many matches, Nagoya are in pole position with six points while Shenzhen Nanling of China, who defeated Al Sadd of Lebanon earlier today are in second. Thai Son Nam are still in the competition mathematically while Al Sadaka are eliminated.

In a match totally dominated by the hosts, captain Tomoki Yoshikawa opened the account in the 11th minute but Thai Son Nam came back in the match with Bruno Takashi’s goal a minute later.

However, Kaoru took the match beyond the reach of the Vietnamese with four goals in six minutes of the first half to go into the half-time with a 5-1 lead. He scored his first goal in the 14th minute and scored a goal apiece in the 18th, 19th and 20th minutes of the match.

Murota Yuki found the net in the 23rd minute and Pedro Costa made it 7-1 in the 14th minute. Nguyen Trong Thien pulled a consolation goal in the 38th minute.

“Our intension was always to win the game regardless of how strong your opponents are,” said Thai Son Nam’s Italian coach Sergio Gargelli after the match.

“Even when it was 3-1, the comeback was possible as the scoreline was not reflecting the actual game but our wayward finishing and their prolific scoring were the differences.

“We must think positively for Thursday’s match since we still have the chance to qualify. If we win our match with a good margin and Nagoya beat Shenzhen comprehensively, we still can sneak through,” he added.

Nagoya coach Victor Acosta also agreed that the scoreline was not truly reflecting the match.

“It was a close match and the score does not tell the true story,” conceded Acosta.

“Thai Son Nam were aggressive and our players were under pressure in the beginning but futsal is all about scoring goals, we kept our tempo and managed to get back with Morioka’s heroics.

“It is not done yet, we want to top our group so there won’t be any lack of effort on Thursday,” he warned.
