Kuwait’s Futsal champions club Qadsiya FC crashed out of the ongoing Mini World Futsal Club Tournament Monday after a 0-3 loss to Cardinal-Rivne of Ukraine in a quarter-final clash at the Kazma Sports Club in Adailiya, Kuwait.

Cardinal’s Captain Bondar Olekssandr scored his side’s first goal for the Ukrainian champions to take the lead seven minutes into the second half, as both sides battled to a 0-0 tie at the end of the first half.

Qadsiya’s outlook was one of confidence as the Kuwaiti champions dominated proceedings in the early going, stringing out pinpoint passes to keep the ball within their fold. But every challenge they threw at the Cardinal defense was met with an equal and opposite force.

After a series of near misses on both sides, Serhi managed to double Cardinal’s advantage with a second goal in the 33rd minute followed by Andrii’s goal that put the final nail on Qadsiya’s coffin right in the nick of time on the 40th minute to finalize the score line at 3-0 for Cardinal-Rivne.

Fans were a bit disappointed in the all-Brazilian Qadsiya’s performance, as they failed to exhibit any of the speed, agility and cohesion with which they stunned Iranian Futsal champions Tabriz, raking home a whopping 11-3 win in the group stages.

Qadsiya may be out of the race but two of their players Rafael Novaes and Rafael Soua, might still be in the running for the golden boot award having finished their campaign with four goals apiece, besides three other contestants from other teams.

On the other hand, Bahrain’s Muharraq FC were handed a 5-1 drubbing in the second quarter-final match of the day by MNK Alumnus of Croatia. Hrvoje Penava scored three of Alumnus’ goals in the 17th, 21st and 38th minutes. But it was Matija Capar who drew first blood for the Alumnus campaign with a 7th minute strike and then scored again in the 37th minute. Ahmed Jasem scored Muharraq’s consolation goal in the 39th minute of the game to close proceedings at 5-1 for Alumnus.

Alumnus who lost their final group match against Santiago of Spain, qualified for the quarter-finals with a single goal difference at the expense of Chonburi of Thailand. The Croatian side now advances to the semis to do battle against Ukraine’s Cardinal Rivne on Wednesday.

Tuesday’s quarter-final fixtures include Al-Sadd vs Misr LelMakasa in the first match @15.50 and Santiago vs Pinocho in the second @ 17.00.
