Trans Tasman rivals spar again in Futsal series

New Zealand and Australia clash again in a three match futsal series for the ASB Trans Tasman Cup this weekend in Wellington

AUCKLAND – New Zealand and Australia clash again in a three match Futsal series for the ASB Trans Tasman Cup this weekend in Wellington.

The two teams last met in the inaugural 2012 Trans Tasman Cup in September, with Australia taking the series with three victories. It was the first time that a FIFA-sanctioned Futsal tournament had been played in New Zealand. The success of the tournament led to both teams calling for it to be an annual event.

The ASB Trans Tasman Cup matches will form part of a Futsal showcase at the ASB Sports Centre, Wellington throughout the weekend, creating a weekend packed with Futsal action. The three match series will be run in conjunction with the ASB National Junior Festival and Youth Championships.

Admission to any of the matches is $10 per game or $20 for all three. Admission is $5 for Under 18s or free with an accompanying adult. Tickets are available on the door.

All three matches of the Trans Tasman Cup will be streamed live on the OFC YouTube Channel www.youtube.com/ofcfootball

The Futsal Whites and Futsalroos will compete in the OFC Futsal Championship in Auckland after the Trans Tasman Cup. The tournament will take place at Auckland’s The Trust Arena from 23-27 July.
