Kuwait TimesKuwait Mini World Futsal Club Tournament saw Argentina’s Pinocho win 3-2 against France’s Erdre during the second round match of Group 2 after being down by two goals. Pinocho now has six points while Erdre remain pointless. In the other match, Bahrain’s Al-Muharraq was able to restore its glitter and give Arab teams hope after beating Romania’s City 4-1 and collect its first three points.
Chances were many for the French against the Argentine team which attempted to counterattack to no avail. Erdre scored first through Angel Pico in the fourth minute, then Sendon scored the second goal in the 16th minute, ending the first half 2-0. Pinocho started the second half with determination and made several scoring attempts and forced Erdre to defend and were careful in moving forward. Things went bad for Erdre when its player Karim Brahim was kicked out giving a golden opportunity for Pinocho to score, which happened in the very minute Brahim was ejected through Lucas.
Pinocho kept the pressure up until Mauro scored the equalizer in the 35th minute before Calo Alan was able to score the winning goal in the very last minute to take his team into the quarter finals. The second match saw Al-Muharraq playing with a different attitude and succeeded in correcting its situation by beating Romania’s City 4-1 during the match that was controlled by Al-Muharraq from start to finish.
City players showed overconfidence which adversely affected their performance and gave Al-Muharraq the opportunity to have more control. It was only one minute into the match when Al-Muharraq scored its first goal through Jassim Saleh and kept the threat up. Ali Saleh added the second goal for Al-Muharraq in the 16th minute, making it harder for City.
City attempted to score in the second half while Al-Muharraq continued its outstanding performance. City’s player Covaci scored a goal cutting the lead in half, and while City were searching for the equalizer, Muharraq’s Ahmad Abdelrasoul scored the third goal in the 34th minute making it really hard for City. City’s Dumitru was thrown out of the game in the 36th minute allowing Muharraq to end the match with the score of 4-1 with the final goal being scored by Mahmoud Abdelrahman (Ringo).
