Source: Kuwait TimesThe second round of the Kuwait Mini World Futsal Club Tournament began with yet another win by Ukraine’s Cardinal-Rivne over Egypt’s Misr LelMakasa 2-1 in Group 1 competition, guaranteeing Cardinal a place in the quarter finals. Meanwhile Atletico Huila of Colombia turned a 0-1 first-half score into a sweeping victory against Saudi Arabia’s Al-Naser by scoring five goals in the second and got the three points it needed, while Al-Naser’s dream of going further were dashed.
Misr LelMakasa scored first in the 18th minute through Almutazbillah Sami, before Cardinal scored the equalizer in the 33rd minute through Bondar Oleksandr, and the winning goal was scored in the 38th minute by Piddubnyi Serhii. LelMakasa remains at three points from its previous win but still have hopes of making it to the next round. They began at a fast pace though both teams were cautious and had won their earlier matches. This reflected on the very conservative performance of LelMakasa and Cardinal obliged. LelMakasa began to control the match, while Cardinal relied on shooting from a distance and the goalkeeper was outstanding in blocking shots.
The second half was totally different as LelMakasa players slowed down and it was obvious that their physical fitness dropped, giving the opportunity to Cardinal to regroup, but the Egyptian goalkeeper continued his outstanding performance. The Egyptian defence could not withstand the relentless attacks by Cardinal as its player Bondar equalized with a very fast shot. LelMakasa players became nervous and lost control of the match as Cardinal continued its pressure and scored the winning goal two minutes before the end of the match.
The second match witnessed a total collapse of Al-Naser with Colombia’s Huila team which won 5-1. Al-Naser began the match highly enthusiastically and pressured Huila’s players and was better in the first minutes of the match and were able to score in the third minute through Yahya Al-Shehry. Huila attempted to come back but Al-Naser was able to abort all its attempts to score, ending the first half 1-0.
Meanwhile, things turned completely topsy-turvy in the second half as Huila had total control while Al-Naser’s performance dropped to a minimum and constituted no danger whatsoever to Huila’s goal. It did not take long before Huila equalized, after which Al-Naser players totally collapsed allowing the Columbians to score four more goals to end the match 5-1.
