Cardinal (UKR) 2-1 Misr LelMakasa (EGY)
Atlético Huila (COL) 5-1 Al-Nasser (RSA)

Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nasser lost 1-5 to Colombian side Atletico Huila Sunday in group A second round clashes of the ongoing Kuwait Mini World Futsal Club Tournament played at the Kazma SC Hall in Adailiya.

Al-Nasser’s Yahya Al-Shehri powered his side into the lead in the third minute with a surprising strike that caught the Atletico goalkeeper wrong footed to register his side’s first goal of the tournament. Al-Nasser piled more pressure on Atletico after taking the lead but the South Americans proved their resilience and refused to buckle, at times taking the battle to the opposition turf with more aggression and determination.

The attacks and counter attacks from both sides continued till the end of the first half, Al-Nasser, who lost to Cardinals in the first round of the group A matches, still on top, 1-0. But the Al-Nasser squad seemed to have marshaled and utilized all their best tricks in the first half as the South Americans, after returning from a timeout hit the court with a game plan that saw the exchanges only taking place in the Al-Nasser half with goalkeeper AbdulMohsen kept busy the entire time parrying off volleys after volleys being fired from Atletico attackers angling for the equalizer. And that equalizer did come 10 minutes into the second half in the 30th minute when Jefferson Rueda scored from a set piece.

At that point Atletico had settled into their game plan and taken control with passes well strung out. Jesus Bonilla sent the South Americans ahead with his 34th minute goal scored to make the scores 2-1. Jhon Rodriguez and Miller Cabrera were the other two scores of the three remaining goals to seal the victory for Atletico, 5-1, the Colombian side’s first win after they lost 1-2 to Misr LeLMakasa in the first round group A matches.

Cabrera, aged 29, scored two goals. The match however was not without incidents, as Luis Lugo and Jesus Tejada of Atletico attracted yellow cards earlier as they tried desperately looking for the equalizer. Al-Nasser’s Abdulrahman AlAyfa also received a yellow card after he was caught in a desperado tackle in the Saudi side’s final desperate kicks in the 39th minute. The win puts Atletico firmly in second place in the group with 3 points and goal difference 3.

Meanwhile, Egyptian side Misr LeLMakasa earlier in the first match of group A second round, suffered a painful 1-2 defeat at the hands of Cardinal-Rivne of Ukraine who earlier in the first round triumphed over Al-Nasser 2-0. LelMakasa through Ahmed AbdulLatef shot into the lead in the 18th minute of the first half. They managed to keep the Ukrainian attackers at bay for the entire first half to cling to the slim lead. As the second half kicked in, the Ukrainian goalkeeper Vitali, decided to take matters into his hands, getting involved in the string of passes that kept the ball with the Europeans for the better part of five minutes, eventually culminating in a shot into the net by Bondar Oleksandr for the equalizer at 1-1 in the 34 minute. Serhi sealed the deal for the Ukrainians with his 38th minute strike to hand his side the second win in as many matches in the tournament. Cardinal thus rule group A with 6 points. The next fixtures for group B have Pinocho vs. FC Erdre and City’Us Tirgu vs. Muharraq.
