Iddris SeiduKUWAIT CITY, July 12Kuwait’s Qadsia Sporting Club narrowly lost 1-2 to Sport Colonial of Paraguay in a group C encounter Friday on day 3 of the ongoing Kuwait Mini World Futsal Club Tournament at the Kazma SC Hall, Adailiya.
Starring an impressive lineup of Brazilian Futsal players, Qadsia dominated the game in the early going with string of passes that sometimes mesmerized their opponents. The two sides held tight with neither allowing the other any looks at goal for the first twenty minutes to close the first half tied goalless, 0-0.
Colonial’s Rodrigo Pereira, also a Brazilian, dribbled past two opponents, and released the ball to team-mate Britos who in turn tapped it back to him for the final delivery behind the Qadsia keeper Victor Ramos to draw first blood of the game for the Paraguayan side, 1-0 three minutes into the second half.
There was hardly any respite for the Paraguayan side as Marcio Gomes a minute later in the fourth minute opened scoring for Qadsia to neutralize the Colonial advantage, 1-1.
With the entire capacity crowd routing for the home team, there was tons of pressure on Qadsia to pull off a win at all cost. As the game entered the final stretch in the final minute, both sides tried all tricks in their kitty for the win. But it was Qadsia that played the riskiest move as goalkeeper Ramos abandoned the goalpost and decided to coordinate play which he did to devastating effect piling pressure to keep the ball in the Colonial half of the pitch.
One of their passes went wrong and landed on the feet of Pereira who quickly tapped the ball back into the unguarded Qadsia goalpost for his second and winning goal of the match to close the game at 2-1 for Sport Colonial. Colonial thus top the group with 3 points.
Meanwhile, earlier in the first match of group C, Iran’s Dabiri Tabriz and Al Saad FC of Qatar fought to a 4-4 drawn game. Jawad Moghaddam opened scoring for the Iranians in the sixth minute with the score line staying the same till halftime, 1-0. After a few taps of the ball among Al Saad players, Mohammed Ismail scored the equalizer in the second minute of the second period.
Sayyed Momen and Babak Akbari scored Tabriz’s second and third goals to put the Iranians two goals ahead ten minutes into the second half. But the Iranian advantage was quickly cancelled when Samer Wahid and Rodrigo Da Rocha scored goals in quick succession in the eleventh and twelfth minutes to tie scoring at 3-3. Amro Ibrahim scored what seemed the winner for Al Saad in the fourteenth minute but was later caught up in a robust tackle on Tabriz’s Moghaddam that earned him a yellow card with the resultant penalty scored by Tabriz’s Vahid Shamsaee to level scores at 4-4, the final score line.
