Gulf Daily NewsMuharraq begin world futsal bidThursday, July 11, 2013BAHRAIN's Muharraq Club take on Argentina's Deportivo Pinocho today to kick off their campaign in the Mini World Futsal Club Tournament, being held in Kuwait City.
The event got underway yesterday with matches from other groups. Games will be played throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
Muharraq and Pinocho are in group 'B' along with City'us Tirgu-Mures from Romania and FC Erdre from France.
The Bahrainis next take on their Romanian counterparts on July 15, after which they go head to head with their French group mates on July 19 in their final divisional fixture.
The top two squads from each group then move on to the quarter-finals.
Muharraq are being guided in the competition by Bahrain's national futsal team head coach Gustavo Zloccowick from Brazil.
They continued their preparations yesterday ahead of their opening game today.
Meanwhile, the tournament's official opening ceremony was held earlier this week. Several high-ranking officials were in attendance, including Bahrain's Shaikh Isa bin Rashid Al Khalifa.
