Dougie ThomsonJul 6 2013TWO of Town’s futsal teams go for glory in Birmingham this weekend.
The A side, who won the Northern title, face Cheltenham, Chesterfield and Swindon in the group stages of today’s Football League Trust League I national finals, aiming to make the showpiece match which will take place at 5.30.
Town’s C team are through to tomorrow’s League II finals after finishing runners-up in the Northern section and will compete against Scunthorpe, Southampton, Crystal Palace, West Brom and Bristol Rovers.
Futsal is a five-a-side game played with a size-four ball to encourage close skills such as dribbling and movement.
It forms part of a two-year education project in which students of both sexes between 16 and 18 take various lessons and courses leading to a BTec diploma in sport, which forms a pathway to university.
In Huddersfield it is run at The Zone by the Huddersfield Town Community Foundation and was set up last year.
New students are being enrolled to start in September.
