News RecordFutsal Cup continues at Greensboro ColiseumFriday, June 28, 2013The Futsal Cup is being played at the Greensboro Coliseum this weekend. According to Wikipedia, it is a variant of soccer played on a hard surface and nearly always indoors.
It was developed in Brazil and Uruguay in the 1930s and 1940s as a solution to the lack of available soccer fields.
Here's information on this weekend's games:
Group 1: World United FC (U.S.); Carlos Barbosa (Brazil); ElPozo Murcia (Spain)
Group 2: Dinamo Moscow (Russia); FSC Glucosoral (Guatemala); Intelli Orlandia (Brazil)
Saturday: Games start at 4:30 and 7 p.m.
Sunday: Fifth-place game, 11 a.m.; third-place game, 2 p.m.; championship, 4:30 p.m.
Tickets: $22 today, $33 Sunday, $50 for weekend book; parking $5.
