The AFC.comAsian Indoor Games: Korea Republic progressMonday, 01 July 2013Incheon: Hosts Korea Republic managed to enter into the knockout stages of the ongoing 2013 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games despite suffering a 5-3 defeat by Kuwait with Abdulrahman Al Mosabehi grabbing four goals alone.
The Koreans had registered wins in two matches before the Kuwait tie which helped them to qualify in the knockout stages as the best runners-up amongst the seven groups.
FIFA Futsal World Cup 2012 participants Kuwait won all the three matches of Group A to top the table. Besides Mosabehi’s four goals heroic, Abdulrahman Al Wadi also scored a goal for the winners. Hong Kong and Macau were held 2-2 to earn their first point in the tournament.
The hosts started the match promisingly with Kim Min-kuk finding the net in the 7th minute. A minute after Kim’s goal, Mosabehi scored his first goal of the match before finding second after four minutes to put the Kuwaitis 2-1 up. Al Wadi’s 17th minute strike made it 3-1.
The Koreans reduced the deficit by 3-2 in the 21st minute after Mosabehi scored again – this time in his own net – but he amended the mistake by putting Kuwait 4-2 ahead in the 22nd minute to complete his hattrick.
Lee Jung-won and Masabehi scored a piece in the 27th but no more goals were scored in the later part of the match as it ended 5-3 in favour of Kuwait.

The AFC.comAsian Indoor Games: Japan survive late scareTuesday, 02 July 2013Incheon: Reigning Asian futsal champions Japan survived a late scare to register a fighting 3-2 win over Turkmenistan which saw them entering into the quarter-finals of the 2013 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.
Group E leaders Japan will take on Uzbekistan in the quarter-finals as the Uzbeks recorded a resounding 6-1 win over Qatar from Group G to book a berth in the knockout stages of the competition.
China scored two late goals to edge Indonesia 5-3 in the Group E decider to set up quarter-final clash against Asian futsal powerhouse Iran as the rampant Iranians were 12-3 winners over neighbour Iraq in the last match of Group D.
Thailand are pitted against Lebanon while hosts Korea Republic, who were defeated 5-3 by Kuwait, will once again face Kuwait in the quarter-finals. All the quarter-final matches will take place on Wednesday.
