AFC Futsal Player of the Year Rafael Henmi scored a hat-trick as continental champions Japan edged Uzbekistan 5-4 with the result at the Dongbu Student Gymnasium ensuring that for the first time since the inception of futsal at the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in 2009 there will not be the same gold, silver and bronze finish of Iran, Thailand and Uzbekistan respectively.
Iran, the three time Asian Indoor Games champions, enjoyed a comfortable 8-0 win over China while Thailand eased past Lebanon 7-3 to set up an intriguing semi-final between the two nations that had contested the gold medal match at the three previous tournaments.
In the other semi-final reigning AFC Futsal champions Japan will take on Kuwait, who eliminated hosts Korea Republic with a 4-1 victory at the Songdo Global University campus.
