The AFC.comThailand throughSunday, 30 June 2013Incheon: AFC Futsal Championship 2012 finalists Thailand booked a berth in the quarter-final of the ongoing 2013 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games after beating Malaysia 4-1 in the last match of Group B on Sunday.
The defeat forced the Malaysians out of the competition as they failed to end of as the best second-placed team. As it stands, Vietnam are the best second-placed side after playing a goalless draw against Lebanon in Group C.
Lebanon by virtue of their big 11-4 win over Palestine, topped the group whereas Vietnam, who also defeated Palestine 4-1 stayed second with inferior goal differences.
Iraq suffered a 3-2 defeat at the hands of the UAE and will take on Asian futsal powerhouse Iran on Monday in Group D. Likewise, Indonesia hammered Chinese Taipei 7-2 in Group E where the Monday’s tie between China and Indonesia will decide the group winner.
Saudi Arabia suffered yet another defeat as Turkmenistan registered a handsome 4-1 win over them to set up a crucial tie against current Asian Futsal champions Japan. A winner between Turkmenistan and Japan will progress in the knockout stages.
Qatar will take on Uzbekistan after in Group G after both the sides won their matches over eliminated Afghanistan.
