Hastings & St.Leonards ObserverHastings grace Europe’s biggest futsal venueHastings Futsal played at Europe’s largest futsal arena in a prestigious national tournament last weekend.
The club took four of its youth academy teams to compete against the likes of Millwall, Birmingham City, MK Dons, Luton Town and some of the country’s top futsal sides containing England youth players in Birmingham.
The Sky Sports cameras were in attendance and the Hastings under-14 squad could feature in television documentary Football Evolution that may hit our screens next year.
The under-14s (sponsored by Zeus Gym) were runners-up, the under-10s (sponsored by A&A Cleaning) and under-12s (sponsored by Arko Property Management) came fourth, and the under-18s (sponsored by Knight Accountants) finished fifth.
Hastings Futsal chairman Graham Knight said: “It was a fantastic day for the players and parents. To think that 52 people travelled up to the event shows there is a real demand for futsal in the south east. I would like to thank our sponsors for providing the kit and the volunteers that made the trip a roaring success.
“A large number of our players were playing against older opposition by one or two years and in one case three years. We are planning to enter a number of other tournaments this summer so more players are required at our youth academy.”
The Hastings Futsal Youth Academy runs sessions every Friday at Freedom Leisure Summerfields with u11s/u12s at 5pm, u13s/u14s at 6pm and u15s/u16s at 7pm.
A waiting list is also being compiled for children aged 3-9 as these sessions will launch this summer. Contact the academy co-ordinator on 07841 437109 or email graham@knightaccountants.co.uk
