This is Total EssexSummer of success for St Martin's schoolgirlsWednesday, June 26, 2013GIRLS from St Martin's School have enjoyed plenty of sporting success this summer term.
The U16s futsal team triumphed at the regional championships earlier this month, and are now preparing for the national finals.
And that means they will follow the U13 basketball team, who were proud runners-up at their own national finals.
The girls travelled to Nottingham for the final four of the National Schools Basketball Championships.
They were given a new kit by the school ahead of the contest, and the Hutton-based team took on Aylesbury High School in the day's first semi-final.
The Saints took control of the game from the first whistle showing real determination and skill. The result ended in a convincing win 82-53.
After a long wait the national final started at 4pm against Greig City Academy from Hornsey.
The atmosphere in the arena was electric and the game was end to end for the first quarter.
Unfortunately the London-based team took the lead in the second half of the game and St Martin's found them too strong in defence as they slipped to an 81-52 defeat.
