The Bermuda Futsal Federation [BFF] hosted their Second Annual Women’s Futsal All-Star Game last night [May 4] at the Bermuda College Gym featuring the best players from the West and East teams.
The West team was coached by NVCC’s Wayne Smith [making his first appearance] with the East team being coached by Dandy Stars’ Aaron Denkins [making his second appearance in the All-Star Game].
The West team jumped out to a commanding early lead which the East team was never able to recover from. While the East had a much better second-half, the West team ran away with the game and ended up winning 14 to 7. Leading goal scorers for the West were Aaliyah Nolan and Leah Smith with 3 goals each. Shauntae Todd led the East with 3 goals.
After the All Star Game a ‘fun’ match took place with some of the football executives and media personnel taking part, including Bermuda Broadcasting’s Gary Moreno, Islandstats’ Earl Basden, and the BFA’s Andrew Griffith, Shequita Parsons, Cal Blakendal as well as one of the visiting FIFA officials.
After the game the Bermuda Futsal Federation handed out awards to recognise outstanding performances during the League and All-Star Game. LeiLanni Nesbeth [NVCC] was awarded the All-Star Game’s MVP, Leading League Goal Scorer went to Cleshaunay Darrell Virgil [Dandy Stars Gold], the League’s MVP went to Zara Gibbons [Dandy Stars Brown] and the League Cup was presented to Champions PHC.
