The Borneo PostDalat village gets new futsal courtby
Jane MohMay 7, 2013, TuesdaySIBU: Minister of Welfare. Women and Family Development Datuk Fatimah Abdullah recently officiated at the opening of a new RM154,000 futsal court in Kampung Sungai Kut Muara, Dalat near here.
The project was carried out in two phases, with the first phase costing RM54,000 and the second phase, RM100,000.
Fatimah, who is also Dalat assemblywoman, said the project was part of the government’s initiative to help youths in their education and social life.
“This shows the government is very concern with the education and social welfare of the youths,” she said.
The government, she added, wanted youth to excel in sports locally and at national as well as international level.
“We want to create facilities for our youths to have a healthy lifestyle,” she pointed out.
Fatimah said government programmes for the young people included the BR1M and 1Malaysia book vouchers.
“We also have leadership training programmes for the youths, which include guiding them in business ventures,” she enthused.
She added: “The government has booths at shopping complexes once a month to enable the youth to exhibit and sell their products.
Free WiFi service would gradually cover more villages in the rural area in time to come, she said.
Mukah MP Dato Sri Muhammad Leo Michael Toyad was also present at the function.
