Tengri NewsFutsal: Kazakhstan's Kairat disappoints Michel PlatiniWednesday, 01.05.2013Almaty Kairat Futsal Club that won the UEFA Futsal Cup has returned to Almaty with the trophy. Airplane with the futsal players and their coaches landed in Almaty airport on April 29, Vesti.kz reports.
There were a lot of people, who wished to meet and welcome the club at the airport: families and friends of the players, fans, young players from Kairat football academy, Kazakhstan’s youth football team and journalists. Almaty Akimat (municipal authorities) and Kazakhstan Football Federation representatives came to welcome and congratulate the champions at the airport as well.
Oon April 28 Kazakhstan's Kairat won UEFA Futsal Cup and the title of the best European club for the first time in the history of its existence. The Kazakhstan team won over Spain’s Barcelona (5:4) (last year's winner of the UEFA Futsal Trophy) and Moscow Dinamo (4:3) in the Final Four tournament that was held in Tbilisi.
The chief coach of the club, Brazilian Cacau said: “It is a historic moment in my career. I want to thank all the people who trusted in this project, especially our vice president, the one who hired me. I want to dedicate this win to everybody in Kazakhstan. I am excited to be in our first final. My team played really well technically and tactically. All my players were like warriors. It is what I wanted. We have beaten the best team in the world, a team that has won everything in the last two years. Barcelona are in the past, and now we can make history.”
He also added: “Michel Platini and Barcelona’s president Sandro Rosell watched the match. They were ready to celebrate Spain’s victory and saw its defeat instead.”
Kairat mini-football club was established in 1995. It has become the best European club. The club also won bronze in the UEFA Futsal Cup tournaments two times (in 2008/2009 and 2010/2011 seasons).
