Thursday, 04 April 2013

Hanoi: A team from the AFC Futsal Development Programme started its assessment visit to Vietnam on Wednesday.

The delegation will have a four-day programme in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City including meetings with the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and futsal clubs and will conduct field visits to competitions and facilities.

Speaking in his opening address, VFF Deputy General Secretary Nguyen Minh Chau said:

“First of all, on behalf of the VFF, I would like to express the warmest welcome to the AFC delegation for this assessment visit. In past years, futsal has grown rapidly as part of the development activities.

“VFF has organised numerous futsal competitions and tournaments. The number of participation has increased, for example, for the international tournaments , top teams such as Italy have been invited which boost the image of futsal in Vietnam as well as the popularity of futsal in the public.

“The VFF's goal is to achieve good results in the AFC Futsal Championship, and we hope with the guidance and assistance of the AFC, futsal will develop well and reach a higher level in the near future. We look forward to receiving the comments and advice from the AFC for us to get on the right track.”

AFC Futsal Education Department Technical Director Ali Targholizade, who leads the team, has explained the purpose and objectives of the visit.

“Of course, development depends on the intention of the MA. But, the AFC feels strongly that Vietnam has great potential to prevail in the ASEAN region,” he said. “We hope the Futsal Development Programme will inject more energy into futsal development in Vietnam.”
Vietnam is the fifth MA to receive the visit from the AFC Futsal Development Programme after Japan, Uzbekistan, Lebanon and Iran.

The visit covers eight areas of futsal namely administration, competition, coach education, referee development, grassroots and youth, marketing, infrastructure and national teams.
