The AFC.comAl Sadd 7-4 Al SalmiyaSunday, 21 April 2013Shah Alam: Al Sadd SC of Qatar qualified for the semi-final as Group A leaders after defeating Al Salmiya of Kuwait 7-4 in Zone 1 qualifiers of the AFC Futsal Club Championship 2013 on Sunday.
In a high-scoring match played at the Panasonic Sports Complex, both teams were through to the semis regardless of Sunday’s result meaning both sides were determined to hone their attacking skills ahead of Tuesday’s semi-finals in which the winners will qualify for the finals to be held in Nagoya, Japan, in August.
The Qataris set the tone of the match after Brazilian Patrick Vieira opened their account as early as in the second minute of the match. Al Salmiya pulled one back immediately through Naser Alqalaf as he dribbled past two Al Sadd defenders at the centre and rounded off goalie Ahmad Khalil.
Egypt born Al Sadd captain Amro Mohssein struck a quick-fire hattrick within five minutes as by the eighth minute Al Sadd were 4-1 up. Mohammed Ibrahim made it 5-1 in the 17th minute but Salmiya reduced the deficit to 5-2 just before the half-time after a brilliant finish from Salem Almekaimi.
Al Salmiya tried their best in the second half by scoring two goals but the Qataris also added a couple of goals of their own to win the match comfortably in the end.
“Amongst those four goals they scored two were because of our mistakes so we must rectify this sort of problems when playing curial matches in the tournament,” Al Sadd coach Mohammed Eisa told www.the-afc.com .
His counterpart Paulo Cesar admitted that he rested some of his best players keeping an eye on the semi-finals. “There were few players on yellow card so I did not put them on the starting list and likewise our Brazilian professional was also given rest for Tuesday’s big match,” said the Brazilian.

The AFC.comAl Sadaka 6-2 Al WaslSunday, 21 April 2013Shah Alam: Lebanese champions Al Sadaka produced a master-class performance to thrash star-studded UAE side Al Wasl 6-2 to qualify for the semi-final as Group A winners in the Zone 1 qualifiers of the AFC Futsal Club Championship 2013 on Sunday.
In the match played at the Panasonic Sports Complex, Al Wasl had a luxury to relax after booking a place in the semi-finals with a match to spare. In contrast, Al Sadaka had to at least take a point to go through after mustering a single point against Naft Al Wasat of Iraq.
The Lebanese were too hot to handle in the beginning and punished the Emiratis in every mistake they made in the first half scoring five first-half goals which featured two nicely taken goals when Al Wasl resorted to power-play.
Al Sadaka the broke the deadlock in the 10th minute after a good work from Yasser Slaman on the right found Hassan Chaito at the centre for a 1-0 lead.
The pair combined again a minute later and it was Chaito who was the creator as Salman made it 2-0. A long-range effort from Kassem Kawsan put Sadaka 3-0 up and they notched two brilliant long-range goals during the power-play to make it 5-0 in the first half.
Al Wasl staged a mini fight-back in the second half scoring two goals but the first half disaster had already sealed the match in favour of Al Sadaka who will take on Kuwaiti champions Al Salmiya in Tuesday’s semi-final. Al Wasl take on in-form Qatari champions Al Sadd on the same day.
“We were under pressure to win this match and I must give credit to my players for their outstanding show today,” said Al Sadaka coach Hussein Dib. “This win will give us extra motivation for the semi-final and we would start the preparation for Tuesday’s match from tonight,” he added.
Al Wasl’s Portuguese coach Rui Daniel believed that the team’s tiredness was to blame for the disappointing results. “The fixtures allowed Al Sadaka to have a good rest day while we had a difficult match yesterday and played today so the boys were tired,” he said.
“We must improve our game in the semi-final but I hope we will be better for the big tie,” he added.
GoalsAl Sadaka: Hassan Chaito 9', Kassem Kawsan 14', Yasser Salman 10', Rabie El Kakhi 18', Jean Kouteny 18', Marwan Georges 27'
Al Wasl: Bader Ibrahim 28', Abdulkarim Jamil 30'
