Manning River TimesEvan's heading to the StatesApril 12, 2013EVAN Martin is the latest Manning futsal player to be named in an Australian side to travel overseas for competition this year.
This brings to four the number of Manning products who will get a taste of international futsal during 2013.
Evan has been named in the under 12 squad that will head to San Francisco in October for a series of matches.
He is the Manning River Times-Iguana Sportstar of the Week, earning a $50 open order at Iguana.
Evan was spotted following the national championships held in Sydney in January where he was a member of the Manning-dominated Northern NSW team.
While he thought he played ‘pretty well’ at the nationals, Evan concedes he was ‘really surprised’ to make the team for the trip to America.
At this stage he doesn’t know what teams the Australians will line up against while in the States, but he understands all will be based in the San Francisco area. He’s never been overseas before so he’s looking forward to his first trip.
Evan plays futsal in the summer at Saxby’s Stadium, with his team making the semi-finals last competition.
He’s played futsal for the past three seasons.
Evan’s now readying for the outdoor football season where he’s a member of the Taree Wildcats under 12s. He usually plays up the back or striker. Evan’s also a member of the Football Mid North Coast under 11 development team.
He attends St Joseph’s Primary School.
