This is Gloucestershire/Gloucestershire EchoYoungsport: Cheltenham Town FC looking for new players for futsal scholarshipWednesday, April 10, 2013CHELTENHAM Town are looking for 34 players between the ages 16-18 to become part of the Futsal and Education Scholarship for September 2013.
The Futsal and Education Programme, going into its third year, delivers a full time education alongside professional Futsal coaching.
The Scholars play competitive Futsal fixtures against other professional Football Clubs including West Bromwich Albion, Reading, Swindon Town and Derby County.
The programme aims to provide 16-18 year olds with pathways and opportunities to further education, and the world of employment, by bringing together some of the country's leading sports and education organisations.
The current two groups of Scholars have excelled, achieving an average grade at merit level, and many second year students will start University courses in September.
The Scholars will be enrolled on a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma, worth up to three A-Levels and allowing access to university.
All applicants must be attaining four GCSE grades at C or above, ideally including Maths and English.
The 34 players will follow the same coaching patterns as the other Cheltenham Town Scholars, with a typical weekly schedule consisting of training sessions, 10-12 hours of Education and a fortnightly fixture in the Futsal National Youth League.
The programme is for any standard of footballer, no previous high standard of football is needed to be played.
There will be an open day on Thursday, April 11 2013 at CTFC Abbey Business Stadium regarding the project, starting at 6pm.
